About
Dorothy Larkman, PhD Candidate is the Interim Director for the School of Social Work. I am from the Matachewan First Nation and teach Indigenous courses for the program. My research interest involves the Indigenous ethic of non-interference in relationship building. I also work with Dr. Sullivan's research of early onset dementia as it pertains to Indigenous peoples in the north. My educational journey has followed an Indigenous perspective on helping within the social work field at the undergraduate and Masters level. My social work spans 24 plus years in differing capacities such as child welfare, community organization, healing and training.

Dorothy’s research interests centre on relationship building with a holistic perspective providing for inclusion of “all my relations”. For her doctoral research she is focusing on the understanding of the ethic of non-interference in relationship building.
