HOURS OF WORK:                         Average 10 hours per week up to 120 hours

RATE OF PAY:                                 $14.25/hour plus Vacation Pay

JOB DESCRIPTION: The successful candidate will work closely with the supervisor to provide research assistance and support to various projects underway in the Forest Resources Laboratory (FRL) at Nipissing University. Work will be online making use of data collected during previous projects done in the FRL. If possible, some work in the lab/field could be included as well. A high degree of diligence and accuracy will be required in all of these tasks. Access to a computer and internet connection are required to complete the work, and proficiency in the R statistical computing environment, Microsoft excel/access and/or dendrochrolological software would be an asset.

DUTIES INCLUDE: Duties will include management and analysis of dendrochronological (tree-ring) data. Specific tasks will be data input and organization in spreadsheets or databases, using dendrochronology programs and/or R to crossdate and build master tree-ring chronologies, and analyze relationships to climate variables.There may also be an opportunity to work with digital data from forest stands in the Nipissing region.
