POSITION TITLE: Student Assistant, Technology Services

EMPLOYMENT DATES: September 2022 to April 2023
HOURS OF WORK: Average 10 hours per week
RATE OF PAY: $15.00/hour plus Vacation Pay
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Student Assistants are an integral part of the University Technology Services team. Their assistance allows the department to offer a high level of customer service to meet the diverse technological needs of university staff, faculty, students, as well as external clients. Student Assistants are trained to assist with a variety of basic technology/audio visual related services to students, faculty, and staff through email, telephone, ticket tracking system as well as in person.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
The Student Assistant will assist with the following:
- Set up and troubleshoot audio visual and video conferencing equipment in classrooms for hybrid and in-class teaching and learning
- Place and retrieve mobile equipment in classrooms
- Audio Visual equipment preventative maintenance
- Monitor computer labs and maintain equipment therein
- Be able to provide a variety of basic IT related services to students, faculty, and staff
- Have an ability to solve problems and work under pressure
- Must be able to work daytime, evening, and weekend shifts
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must apply and be approved for the NUWORK Program
- Have well developed customer service and communication skills
- Experience in a customer service-oriented environment
- Familiarity with standard computer software and hardware
- Familiarity with audio visual equipment is not necessary but would be considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and as a key member of a high functioning team
- Self-motivated
