HOURS OF WORK:                        Average 10 hours per week

RATE OF PAY:                                 $15.00/hour plus Vacation Pay

JOB DESCRIPTION:        

Student Assistants are an integral part of the in-house print shop team. Their assistance allows the Print Shop to offer a high level of customer service to meet the diverse print needs of university staff, faculty, students, as well as external clients. They provide additional assistance required during the exceptionally busy student course materials distribution period and the entire academic year.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

The student assistants will assist with the following:

  • Be able to provide a variety of services to our clients, including high-volume printing/copying, binding, scanning and data entry
  • Have an ability to solve problems and work under pressure
  • Be able to lift heavy objects (boxes of paper)
  • Be comfortable performing standard equipment maintenance
  • Provide customer services, handle cash/debit/credit card transactions, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must apply and be approved for the NUWORK Program
  • Experience in a customer service-oriented environment
  • Familiarity with standard computer software (MS Office, Adobe, Internet)
  • Experience handling cash would be considered an asset
  • Familiarity with print shop equipment is not necessary but would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as a key member of a high functioning team
  • Self-motivated
