POSITION TITLE:            International Student Support Assistant

EMPLOYMENT DATES:  May 8, 2023 – August 25, 2023 

HOURS OF WORK:        35hrs/ week 

RATE OF PAY:                $15.50/HR + Vacation pay as determined by HR policy  

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The International Student Support Assistant will assist with the planning and creation of resources and supports for incoming and existing international students, as well as planning training and orientation activities for international students and the ISMP. 

DUTIES INCLUDE: 

The International Student Support Assistant will assist with the following:  

  • Creating resources for incoming international students to support their transition to Canada 
  • Planning communications with incoming international students 
  • Working with the ISMP executive team to plan ISMP mentor training and ISMP involvement in International Student Orientation 
  • Working with WUSC Local Committee for program, event planning, and recruitment for the school year ahead 
  • Planning for international student orientation and support of Lakers Orientation 
  • Working with the ISMP executive team to plan ISMP events and trips 
  • Assisting in the creation of ISMP training 
  • Administrative tasks; applications, agendas, orientation booklets, student resources, etc. 
  • Welcoming international students to campus upon arrival (arrival pick-ups) 
  • Content creation for the International Student Support social media accounts 
  • Other duties as assigned.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills 
  • Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality. 
  • Familiarity with the experience of international students at Nipissing University
