HOURS OF WORK:                        Average 10 hours per week

RATE OF PAY:                                 $14.25/hour plus Vacation Pay

JOB DESCRIPTION:                       

The Health and Wellness Assistant will work with Student Intervention Services to support the various programs, initiatives, and services which seek to support students in achieving success and wellness at Nipissing University. The incumbent will assist in creation and maintenance of mental and emotional wellness campaigns (e.g., NUlistens, NUlisteners, Outreach events, Social Media). The incumbent will be trained as a peer facilitator for workshops. Experience with program development and program delivery is an asset.  Applicants with a professional interest in mental health or social work professions will be given priority.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

The Health and Wellness Assistant will support the team by assisting with:

  • Development, coordination, and facilitation of outreach programing for diverse student groups.
  • Provide youth engagement perspective on program development and design.
  • Advertising and promotion of events / department services.
  • Researching and data gathering relating to best practices and industry standards.
  • Administrative tasks for the department.
  • REAL TALK, NUlistens and NUlisteners programming support
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must apply and be approved for the NUWORK Program
  • Interest in student wellness & mental health
  • Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
  • Strong verbal written and visual communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • Ability to work with students across diverse educational, cultural, and social backgrounds
  • An understanding of trauma informed practice would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Nipissing University programs, initiatives, and services that promote student academic and personal success
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms
