POSITION TITLE: Gender Equality and Social Justice Student Assistant

HOURS OF WORK: Up 10 hours per week
RATE OF PAY: $14.25/hour plus Vacation Pay
JOB DESCRIPTION:
GESJ is seeking a student assistant to work up to 10 hours per week over the 2021-22 academic year, to provide assistance primarily with event planning, social media promotion and where time permits, research assistance to the faculty with curriculum development as well as revision. There may be other administrative duties involved as well.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Liaising with the Chair and faculty around administrative tasks
- Providing assistance with event planning – particularly for the Panel event on The Marrow Thieves for the DREAMS course as well as the annual International Women’s Day events.
- Help with developing a marketing campaign for these events and provide assistance in promotion with social media.
- Liaising with other stakeholders like NUSU and SDS where appropriate.
- Assist with increasing GESJ’s social media presence and profile.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must apply and be approved for the NUWORK Program
- Familiarity with Social Media and a willingness to take on the task of managing this across platforms for GESJ
- Excellent research and writing skills
