HOURS OF WORK:                           Average 10 hours per week (up to 120 hours)

RATE OF PAY:                                    $14.00/hour plus Vacation Pay

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  The purpose of this position is to examine developments in eco social work or environmental perspectives in social work (theoretical, educational, practice models). This work will used to inform future educational developments in the School of Social Work.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE:

This position will assist with the following duties:

  1. Completing a scoping review of the literature on environmental perspectives in social work practice, research and education.
  2. Conducting a market analysis to report on any trends and/or opportunities in environmental social work in social work education.
  3. Liaising with NU faculty in other departments to explore and record existing research and/or educational initiatives that address environmental matters.
  4. In collaboration with supervising faculty member, prepare a report summarizing the key findings from the literature review and from the market analysis.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous voluntary or paid work experience in the health or social care sector;
  • Some knowledge of professional social work and its varied modes of delivery;
  • Experience searching academic databases;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; and
  • Ability to work independently.
