Duties:

The government tabled Budget 2021, which focuses on key themes to help support Canadians in the years ahead, including finishing the fight against COVID-19, creating jobs and growth, and ensuring a resilient and inclusive recovery. ISED will continue to play an important role in advancing initiatives in each of the budgetary themes. Our work is diversified and touches on various topics, such as innovation, science, industry, tourism and small business. You’ll get to work on a wide variety of initiatives that directly impact the Canadian economy as well as our daily lives as Canadians and as ISED employees.

Intent of the Process:

This process aims to create and maintain an inventory of Aboriginal persons AND/OR Persons with disabilities for casual, indeterminate or term appointments within Innovation Science and Economic Development Canada. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to fill similar positions with various locations and tenures.

In Order to Be Considered:

EDUCATION
→ Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, that is comparable to a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed.

Part A
Notes: Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Significant EXPERIENCE where you:
→ Lead projects of a multi-disciplinary nature requiring the consideration of a variety of issues and viewpoints including recommending options to senior decision makers;
→ Established and maintained collaborative relationships and networks of contacts, and built consensus with internal and external stakeholders;
→ Represented your organization by participating in various meetings/ conferences/ committees;
→ Developped briefing material and reports such as briefing notes, presentations, or any other substantive documentation supporting decision-making by senior management;
→ Conducted research and provided advice on issues;
••Some positions will also require:
→ Contributed to management of human and financial resources.

Significant means:
→ EC-06 positions: The depth and breadth of work demonstrated normally acquired by performing the duties for a period of approximately one (1) to two (2) years.
→ EC-07 positions: The depth and breadth of work demonstrated normally acquired by performing the duties for a period of approximately three (3) years.

ASSET EDUCATION
→ Graduation with a Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in economics, sociology, statistics, business/commerce, political science, public policy, mathematics or a related field.
