Shkaabe Makwa is a Centre for First Nations, Inuit and Métis Wellness at CAMH that supports culturally relevant systems initiatives to achieve health equity and community wellness in collaboration with First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities and service providers across Ontario. Through the implementation of wise practices, evidence-based models, trauma-informed interventions, and the advancement of research, Shkaabe Makwa strives to transform health outcomes which harmonize traditional knowledge and medical expertise.

Shkaabe Makwa is seeking a full-time, permanent Training Coordinator who will report to the Manager of Workforce Development. The Training Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of training and events for First Nations, Inuit and Métis direct service providers across Ontario. Working closely with internal partners and external provincial stakeholders, the candidate will plan, organize, coordinate and execute a range of virtual and in-person events. This includes Workforce Development provincial trainings, webinars, curriculum advisory circles, professional development activities, the annual Workforce Development Conference, special project forums as well as other team and community events. The position involves bringing together Indigenous direct service providers, and vendors from different sectors/communities and organizing multi-organization initiatives. This role involves activities that include but are not limited to updating the Workforce Development training schedules and training menu, promoting trainings and events, managing registration lists, booking venues and travel accommodations as necessary, engaging and tracking interactions of participants and stakeholders, compiling evaluation survey data, risk mitigation, project management documentation and reporting as well as working with new and existing vendors to sign service agreements. The Training Coordinator will act as a project, technical and administrative resource on assigned new and existing initiatives relating to Shkaabe Makwa. The position is based out of 60 White Squirrel Way in Toronto.

Job Type: Full time Permanent

Wages: $28.90 - $39.98/hour

Qualifications:

  • Must be First Nations, Inuit or Métis
  • Thorough understanding of perspectives and practices of Indigenous engagement.
  • Bachelor's degree in Health, Education, Social Services, Health Administration or related field
  • 2 years of relevant experience in event planning and project management of Indigenous healthcare projects.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Possess demonstrated proficiency in interpersonal, problem solving, client-centred skills, verbal/written communication, virtual education, organization, time management and ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Experience using technology platforms such as Zoom and WebEx to host large webinars and trainings (500 participants) is required.
  • Experience using web-based survey tools (Survey Monkey, RedCap) and Customer Relationship Management software (Mail Chimp and Salesforce) is required.
  • Bilingualism in French/English or an Indigenous language would be an asset.
  • This position requires occasional travel throughout Ontario.
  • Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
