We are seeking a Nursing student to join our summer Health Care Staff Team as a Camper Care Assistant. This opportunity is a great chance to work with Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Doctors, to build personal skills and obtain first-hand experience caring for children and staff in a fun, summer camp environment.

Job Type: Summer

Hours: Variable - congregate living environment with varied hours of work and time off daily.  Expect between 40-60 hours/week.

Wages: $400 - $450/week, depending on skills & experience.  Room & Board are included, including all meals.  10-14 weeks of employment available, depending on candidate's availability.

Duties & Qualifications:

  • Organize Camper Health Data reports for the upcoming week Health Care Staff.
  • Work with Camp Director to ensure Health Centre is adequately stocked with supplies.
  • Assist Nurse / Doctor / Nurse Practitioner with Sunday camper registration and health checks
  • Update HOC Medical database with newly collected information from Sunday Check-In.
  • Assist the Nurse / Doctor / Nurse Practitioner with daily, bedtime and evening routines.
  • Assist the Nurse / Doctor / Nurse Practitioner to ensure that campers and staff with specific medical needs are properly cared for. Properly and thoroughly document all visits to the Health Centre.
  • When required, travel to the arena to assist hockey staff with any medical or first aid issues.
  • Provide a basic overview of First Aid procedures during Orientation week and staff meetings as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 19 years of age.
  • Currently in a 3rd year Nursing Program at a Post Secondary School.
  • Recommended but not mandatory Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard swimming certification.
  • Currently holding an advanced or instructor level Emergency First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid G Driver's License.
  • Ability to obtain a Criminal Record Check upon successful job offer.
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and positive.
  • Must be willing to take part in camp related activities outside the defined job description.
  • Experience working with children of varied ages an asset.
