HOURS OF WORK:                 UP TO 10 HOURS PER WEEK

RATE OF PAY:                         $14.00/ HR PLUS VACATION PAY

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Ask Me Team Assistant will assist the Student Learning and Transitions (SLT) team by aiding the Ask Me Team program in helping incoming and current students get answers they need and information about upcoming events in a timely, convenient manner. The Ask Me Team uses social media and the Nipissing University website as a means to share information about all things Nipissing University.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE:

The Ask Me Team Assistant will assist with the following:

  • Maintaining the Ask Me Twitter and email accounts with the support of the Ask Me and Student Learning and Transitions team;
  • Training and development program for the executive team of volunteers;
  • The coordination of staff and faculty involvement in the Ask Me Team during peak transition periods throughout the academic year;
  • Promoting and attending various NU initiatives, programs, and events to increase student awareness and engagement;
  • Participate in outreach initiatives in support of the Student Learning and Transitions department and the Ask Me Team program (i.e. class visits, booths, short presentations);
  • Participate in ongoing professional development including in-service opportunities provided by the department; 
  • Completion of utilization and satisfaction reports; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Prior to assuming the role, candidates must complete the following:

  • In person, orientation and training session(s) as outlined by the department
  • Completion and submission of all required paperwork

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must apply and be approved for the NUWORK Program.
  • Upper-year student (2nd year and above) with knowledge of Nipissing University programs, initiatives, and services with a minimum overall average of 70%.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
  • Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Appropriate and professional behaviour at all times.
