Physical and Health Education Scholarships and Awards

CCUPEKA Student Leadership Award

Value: 0

Presented annually by the Canadian Council of University Physical Education and Kinesiology Administrators to a deserving full time BPHE graduate who demonstrates exceptional professionalism and dedication to the field, and one who has made a significant contribution to the BPHE program, the campus, or the greater community. Each student nominated demonstrated leadership, commitment and an ability to motivate and influence others. Nominated students must meet the minimum GPA requirements as determined by the Director of the BPHE program. The recipient receives a framed certificate and will have his/her name engraved on a plaque displayed in the Centre for Physical and Health Education.

Euler Family Award

Value: $950

Awarded annually to a first or second year student in the Bachelor of Physical and Health Education program who is a graduate of a northern Ontario high school, with preference to a graduate of a North Bay high school. The recipient must be involved in extracurricular activities and/or has contributed to the community through volunteerism. The recipient must also demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.

Nipissing University Alumni Association Bachelor of Physical & Health Education Award

Value: $600

Presented to a second, third or fourth year full-time student maintaining a minimum 70% average in the Bachelor of Physical Health and Education program. The recipient must also demonstrate financial need.

Apply on the Web Bursary application available on Web Advisor October 1. Deadline: 4:00 pm November 1.

North Bay Sports Hall of Fame Award

Value: $1000

Presented annually to a graduate of a North Bay high school who is in the first or second year of the Bachelor of Physical and Health Education program. The recipient will have demonstrated excellence in academics and extracurricular athletics and have contributed to the community through volunteerism.

Paul Nelson Memorial Award

Value: $500

Recognizes a 3rd year Bachelor of Physical and Health Education student who has developed an exemplary Coaching Philosophy in PHED 3016 – Coaching. The recipient will have clearly identified and provided the basis for his or her philosophy of coaching. In addition, the philosophy must display richness and perceptiveness.


Nipissing University assumes liability for the payment of scholarships, bursaries and other awards only to the extent that expected gifts from donors or returns from particular investments of endowed funds are realized. The University reserves the right to make whatever changes circumstances may require, including the amendment of monetary value, selection criteria and the cancellation of particular awards. Information on the current status of any of these may be obtained by contacting the Student Awards and Financial Aid Office or by visiting the Nipissing University website at

Students who feel that their individual circumstances are not being fairly considered when determining eligibility for the aforementioned scholarships, bursaries and awards have the right to submit a written appeal explaining their circumstances to the Undergraduate Services and Awards Committee.​
