Children's Aid SocietyWe believe children belong at home, and families belong together. Our first priority is to ensure that children have a safe home environment in which to grow and thrive. We provide a variety of services and programs to help with this, and work with many community partners who are striving for the same thing. In the event that home isn’t a safe place and alternative care is needed, we make every effort to find kinship families and familiar caregivers to provide a safe home environment. It takes a village, and together with our community partners and concerned citizens we are all making a difference in the lives of children in need of protection.

Primary Army Reserve - Canadian Armed ForcesThe Canadian Army Reserve is an integrated part of the Canadian Army (CA) that contributes to the success of military operations at home and abroad. Within Canada, the Reserves is consistently part of every domestic operation when the Army is called upon to assist provincial governments with natural disasters such a floods or fires, as well as with other events where the Army is asked to help. In international operations, the role of the Reserves is to augment, sustain and support deployed Regular Force members. Equally important, the Reserves provides an Army presence in over 100 communities across Canada, putting a familiar, local face on the Army for the Canadian public. The majority of Reservists serve one evening a week, one weekend a month. And there are different occupations that we offer in North Bay, including Infantry soldiers, Mobile Support Equipment Operator, Human Resources Administers, Financial Service Administers, Logistical Officers, Material Management technicians, etc. Reservists come from all sorts of backgrounds – from young Canadians graduating in high school or entering universities or colleges, to civic-minded Canadians of all ages who have careers outside the Reserves in a wide range of civilian occupations. Simply put, training and employment within the Reserves meets the needs of citizens willing to take on the Army challenge and contribute their varied skills and backgrounds that enrich and strengthen the Canadian Army. There are certain requirements you must meet in order to join the Canadian Armed Forces. To join as a Non-Commissioned Member (NCM) you must be: between 16 and 57 years old (those under 18 require permission from parent or guardian), are a Canadian citizen, and have completed Grade 10 or Secondary IV (Quebec). To join as an Officer has same requirements but also you require to already have or be working towards a Bachelor degree. Website: https://forces.ca/en/ |
