Semester Start-Up Checklist

Are you a new student? Don't forget to complete these additional items before your first semester begins!

  1. Submit your Self-Identification Form and gather your disability documentation.
  2. Meet Your Accessibility Consultant at the Information fair during New Student Orientation, July 10-14 2017.
  3. Submit your application by July 24, 2017 to attend the Accessibility Transition Program before school starts.
  4. Make an intake appointment with your Accessibility Consultant for September or earlier to arrange for your academic accommodations.
  5. Meet with the Student Accessibility Officers to learn how to register for testing accommodations and set-up note-taking, if appropriate.

Follow the checklist below for essential items that you should ensure are in place when you begin your studies every term:

  • Complete the Returning Student Form found on the website.  By completing this form you will be requesting that your Letter(s) of Accommodation are released for the term.
  • It is strongly recommended that you connect with your Accessibility Consultant early in each new term to update or make any changes needed to your accommodation plan.
  • Apply for OSAP and check off that you are a student with a disability.
  • Make the appropriate arrangements with the Adaptive Technology Technician to ensure all technology is in place before classes commence.
  • If you require textbooks in alternate format, complete the Textbook Request Form as soon as your books have been listed. Booklists can be found at the bookstore’s website.  It is important you request your textbooks in alternate format as early as possible as there can be a delay in obtaining the alternate format version of the textbook from the publisher.
  • Consider introducing yourself to your professor(s) in person or over email during the first weeks of the term.

**Check your NIPISSING EMAIL ACCOUNT frequently for important information from Student Accessibility Services.**
