Aboriginal Classroom Assistant Diploma Program (ACADP)

This two-year program is comprised of two components:

a) summer sessions at Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario

b) in-school internships under the supervision of a certified teacher, in a classroom setting.

The following is the procedure for applying:

Part 1 Applicants:

Send the following to the Office of the Registrar:

  • Completed application form
  • $50 non-refundable application fee, made payable to Nipissing University (this will be applied toward your tuition fee)
  • Official secondary school transcript. Candidates without grade 12 can be admitted if they are 21 years or older and have been out of school for two years or more;
  • Valid Criminal Reference Check including a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC). Your PVSC must have an issue date of May 1st or later. A PVSC dated prior to May 1st will not be accepted.

Part 2 Applicants:

Send the following to the Office of the Registrar:

  • Completed application form
  • $50 non-refundable application fee, made payable to Nipissing University (this will be applied toward your tuition fee).
  • Recent Criminal Reference Check including a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC). Your PVSC must have an issue date of May 1, 2019 or later. A PVSC dated prior to May 1, 2019 will not be accepted.​
In addition to the above, returning students must have:
  • Successful completion of ACADP Part I courses with a minimum of 60% in each course; and,
  • Successful completion of EDUC 1010 ACADP Practicum 1.
 or 
  • Successful completion of all components of Part I and Part II of the Native Classroom Assistant Diploma Program within four years from enrolment.
or 
  • Successful completion of Part I of the Native Classroom Assistant Diploma Program within four years from enrolment;
  • Successful completion of EDUC 2012 Working with Indigenous Children with Special Needs I  (minimum 60% average);
  • Successful completion of EDUC 1063 Information Technology in Classrooms (minimum 60% average).
