To support students in their goal in achieving academic success, the Summer Aboriginal Education Programs has developed a number of daily activities for families of our students:
Youth Experience Program
The Youth Experience Program is a series of week long learning experiences for children aged 3 to 8 years of age. Each week, youth will engage in a series of exciting learning activities designed to keep your child engaged and entertained while attending classes. Field trips to local attractions (Lake Nipissing beaches, museums, etc.) are included throughout the activities. All weekly activities will include days at the beach, various water play/activities, and daily hikes.
We ask parents/guardians to ensure that their children arrive at the Youth Experience Program with appropriate clothing and other items for the planned activities. This will include sneakers, bathing suits, towels, hats, and sunscreen. Please remember to pack a daily lunch and snacks for your child.
Parents can drop their children off starting at 8:00 am and children must be picked up by 6:00 pm daily (Monday-Friday). Please note that Monday, August 6th is a holiday and there is no Youth Experience Program running on this day.
WEEK ONE: WELCOME TO CAMP WEEK
Welcome to Summer Youth Camp! This week is all about getting to know each other and the areas around North Bay. We can’t wait to do all kinds of great games and crafts to get to know the campers and unleash their personalities! Campers will decorate the camp room and will be introduced to the campus hiking trails and the fields around Chancellor’s House during our Nipissing University Tour. This week is also jam-packed with activities to help our campers come out of their shell. Welcome Week is sure to bring our campers together, and they will enjoy meeting new friends and getting a great start to a summer packed full of fun!
WEEK TWO: WORLD WONDER WEEK
Every day is Earth day! This week our campers will learn about Mother Earth and all the things we can do to help protect our special planet. We will start our week with a visit to the North Bay Fire Station. Later this week campers will be sure to enjoy planting their own small garden and exploring the trails around Nipissing. We will be collecting natural resources during our hikes so the campers can create their own works of art using Mother Earth. This week is bound to end with a bang when we travel to the Science Explorations camp to watch them set off rockets and volcanoes!
WEEK THREE: OUTDOORS ADVENTURE WEEK
Remember to pack your sunscreen because our campers will be exploring the great outdoors this week! The week starts with a trip to a local conservation area - the Laurier Woods. Campers will have fun identifying the many species of wildlife that call this area home. Then we will be exploring local ponds and gardens, before finishing the week off with a visit to Leisure Farms to harvest strawberries. Campers are sure to learn all about the wonderful outdoor areas North Bay has to offer and will look forward to a sweet treat at the end of the week.
WEEK FOUR: NUTRITION IMPOSSIBLE

This week our campers will have a chance to prep and enjoy snacks while learning which good foods can energize our bodies!! Our nutrition mission will begin with a short journey to Grounded Studios where campers will participate in stretching and Zumba! The centre of our week will take place at the Calendar Splash pad, after building our own lunches. Our week will finish with a day at the beach and enjoying our prepped smoothie pops! Don’t forget to pack your sunscreen and carry an appetite!
WEEK FIVE: AMAZING AVENGERS WEEK
Super Campers Assemble! Youth Camp goes into super mode with campers enjoying a superhero themed week.
