One Kids Place tours NU labs

Nipissing University’s School of Physical and Health Education hosted the One Kids Place Children’s Treatment Centre for a tour that highlighted the opportunity for future collaborative research and knowledge sharing between the institutions.

One Kids Place staff joined the faculty for a tour of the new Centre for Physical and Health Education to explore synergies between the ongoing research at the university, and the innovative diagnostic and therapeutic programming at the children’s treatment centre.

The tour included demonstrations and research discussions in the Psychology of Physical Activity and Health Promotion Lab; the Biomechanics and Ergonomics Lab; the Sensory Movement Behaviour Lab and the Exercise Physiology Lab.

The event was timely given the recent announcement of the new Masters of Science in Kinesiology program, prompting a new wave of research at graduate level.   Read about the new program here.

One Kids Place provides community-based rehabilitation and related support services for children and their families living in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound.  The Centre defines rehabilitation for children and youth as a process centred on the child’s strengths and potential.  It provides an integrated range of services and supports, which recognizes the changing physical, emotional and psychological aspects of a child’s development.
