Nipissing raising money for Movember

Hopefully an early season shot of the NUFA Movember team.
Things are getting pretty hairy on campus right now.  Thankfully, it’s all for a good cause: Movember. Students, faculty and staff at Nipissing University are raising money and awareness for men’s health: specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.

The Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU), in conjunction with the Nipissing Lakers Men’s Volleyball Team, are working together to change lives of men in Canada.

The Nipissing University Faculty Association executive are growing mo’s together, as well, with Dr. Nathan Kozuskanich captaining a team featuring Joe Boivin, Dr. Jeff Dech and Dr. Todd Horton.

Nipissing staff members are in on the action as well, with Brendan O’Connor leading the charge with the hairiest head and face in the university.

AJ Lacarte, NUSU Communications Assistant said: “I am so proud to be on a campus that promotes open conversation, philanthropy and mental health. It is a great feeling to be making a difference, even if it is just in one person’s life.”

According to Statistics Canada the suicide rate for males is three times higher than the rate for females. A stat that is worrying.

To date, Nipissing has raised more than $3,400. To make a donation, visit the requisite Movember team page:
