NUSU and Capitol Centre collaborate for students

Last week, the Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) and Capitol Centre announced their new collaboration. River Town Saints and The Abrams will perform for Nipissing University and Canadore College students on October 29.

“We are excited to be working alongside the Capitol Centre on this concert and think that this is a perfect venue for students to really appreciate the arts scene in North Bay,” said NUSU President Jordan Andrews. “The Capitol Centre is a staple of the community, and with it approaching 30 years of service to the city, we are thrilled to host these amazing bands there.”

“We have an amazing program for university students called U-Go,” said Kate Ricci, Capitol Centre marketing manager. “Students get a discounted rate on several Capitol Centre Presents performances. This makes it affordable to come to shows on that very tight student budget.”

River Town Saints, an Ottawa based band, released their debut single, A Little Bit Goes A Long Way, in late 2015, landing them on many Artists To Watch Lists for 2016. Their new hit Cherry Bomb is a firecracker of a single.

Brothers John and James Abrams have been performing for over 15 years. Their self-titled album’s first single, Fine, debuted on the Canadian Country charts in May 2016, with the music video premiering on CMT’s Chevy Top 20 Countdown.

NUSU and the Capitol Centre are looking forward to a partnership that will bring more youth/student events to the Capitol Centre stage.

Students are able to purchase their tickets online at or at the Capitol Centre box office.
