Lakers welcoming local school kids

Nipissing Lakers Athletics is excited to introduce Lakers Sports Days, welcoming elementary school students to campus for multi-sport activity days full of activity and fun.

Local students in grades 4-8 are at the university to participate in activities such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football, squash, floor or field hockey and orienteering in a healthy competition environment.  Each activity involves skill instruction, game situation drills and an opportunity for play.

Instruction for the activities is provided by our Laker Varsity Athletes.  Lakers Sports Days are a great way for Nipissing Athletics to give the community access to our beautiful facilities and to make good use of our facilities during the summer.

All Lakers Sports Days events will take place in the Nipissing University Athletics Facility and on the adjacent soccer fields.  In the event of inclement weather, all activities for the day will take place indoors.

Lakers Sports Days will run on selected days until June 19.  The first group of students is on campus today, May 13.  Each day runs from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Robert J Surtees Athletic Centre.

For further information on the Lakers Sports Days, please contact Lakers Women’s Basketball head coach Marg Jones at
