International Food Fest is back

Nipissing’s exceedingly popular International Food Fest is back, serving up delectable treats from around the world on February 28, from noon – 2 p.m. at the Wall (100 College Drive).

Organized by the International Student Support Services and Programs Office with NU’s Local WUSC Committee, the Food Fest raises money for Nipisisng’s Student Refugee Program and is a celebration of diversity, multiculturalism and civic engagement.

This annual event is a staple on any serious foodie’s calendar.  Organizers expect to serve more than 5,000 food samples and will facilitate inter-cultural integration by informing guests of food content, origin and method of preparation.

The International Food Festival would not be successful without the help of many local restaurants, businesses, students, and volunteers.

“The popularity of the food fest grows every year by bringing the North Bay and Nipissing University communities together to give student refugees the possibility for a brighter future,” said Jesse Fortier, Nipissing’s Education Abroad Coordinator.  “Thank you to all the community members, students, staff and faculty who support this great event.  Their support really makes a significant difference in the success of this terrific program.”

Tickets cost $10 for eight food samples.

One ticket to the event will entitle participants to one sample of food (about a cup).

Volunteers will serve as long as supplies last, so be sure to arrive early to avoid disappointment and hunger.

There will also be a silent auction on site and winners will be announced at the end of the event.
