Congratulations to Dr. Mady

Dr. Callie Mady, professor in the Schulich School of Education has earned a prestigious Robert Roy Award for advancing the field of secondary language education.

Dr. Mady’s research has influenced second language policies, curriculum and companion documents.  She was chosen by The Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (CASLT) to receive the award.

The award is named in memory of the late Robert Roy, a distinguished Canadian second language educator and founding president of CASLT in 1970. The award was created to recognize outstanding educators.  Winners of the Robert Roy Award are granted a lifetime membership with CASLT for their important contributions.

“I am honoured to be a recipient of this award. With this award, I am reminded of the many people and organizations who have supported me in my journey and to whom I am grateful,” says Dr. Mady. “This award is also a strong reminder to me of the potential for different levels of education to impact each other.”

CASLT promotes the advancement of second language learning and teaching throughout Canada by creating opportunities for professional development, by encouraging research, and by facilitating the sharing of information and the exchange of ideas among second language educators. The CASLT mission fosters and advances professional excellence in the teaching of second languages in Canada
