| The Learning Network is a series of programs and services that works with each student to ensure not only their continued participation in an undergraduate degree but their development as a leader in their academic program and future career choice. | |
| THE NETWORK...Mentorship Program | |
| The Mentorship Program is a network of students who address potential barriers to academic success collaboratively. It is the part of the Learning Network’s efforts to encourage student development by first establishing each student as an academic leader | |

As a first year student, having contact with an upper year peer mentor means that your transition into Nipissing's unique academic, social and service environments will be supported and guided by someone who has recently experienced and successfully negotiated their first year. |

On Guided Collaboration |
| Every student approaches the challenges of university from his or her own distinctive strengths, experiences and background. What makes the mentorship approach unique is that you are guided collaboratively. This means that a peer mentor will only help you develop your own competencies for persistence and achievement, not establish them for you. | |
Specifically the role of the peer mentor is to: |
| Because each student is matched with students in their same degree and major they will have a personal introduction on what measures and steps they can take to succeed in their course of study (please note that all peer mentors must have exceptional academic standing, which means they must have a 75% or greater overall average). | |
| THE LEARNING...Academic Success Workshops | |
| As part of our commitment to continuous learning, the Learning Network offers workshops and programs for academic success, career planning, and leadership development. | |
| Academic success workshops provide timely and relevant information on the preparation, tools, and understanding you need to become a successful student. Facilitated by Peer Mentors, these workshops touch on topics like how to get faculty committed to your success, the importance of classroom participation, how to edit your own work, how to prepare for exams, etc. | |
