External Hard Drive Technology
  

  • The “new” iTeach Laptop Learning Program will utilize External Hard Drive (EHD) technology as a medium to manage the Ministry of Education provincially licensed software as well as commercial applications licensed to the University. Nipissing University will own the EHD equipment.

  • This technique will provide iTeach Program participants with 2 Operating Systems to work with while developing their skills and abilities in the field of educational technology.

  • Students (Consecutive ED - 1 year B.Ed. Program  & Concurrent ED Years 4 & 5) are obligated to enter into a "Lease-to-Use" agreement with Nipissing University regulating the use and care of the EHD device throughout the academic year.

  • The EHD will contain:
    - both the Mac OS X (Leopard) and Microsoft Windows operating system; Microsoft Office 2008 - Mac (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Entourage); iLife applications (iWeb, iMovie, iPhoto, iDVD, Garage Band, PhotoBooth, iTunes, etc.); Ontario Ministry of Education licensed software - Adobe CS4 (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash), Adobe Photoshop Elements, Clicker 5.27, Finale 2008, Music Ace, Fathom, Smart Ideas, Ontario Curriculum Unit Planner; anti-virus security software; commercial software licensed to Nipissing University (SMART Notebook 10, Senteo Manager, MarkBook 2009 - both Mac & Windows, Teacher's Partner, eTeacher 2009); open source software - Wii-Mote Whiteboard (Mac), Audacity, XMind Concept Mapping, Filezilla FTP and others.
  • As the EHD is owned by the University, the use of the device and it's associated software is regulated under the Nipissing University Acceptable Use Policy:
