This web site is a history lesson based on the murder of a African-American man in 1868. The murder took place on Salt Spring Island in the Bristish Colony of British Columbia and native man was convicted and sentenced to death for the murder, but was he really guilty? The site includes historical documents, evidence, inqusitions and diary entries. The student can research to come to their conclusion. It is not only a lesson of the settlement of British Columbia but also about racism, dipossession of aboriginal people and the importance of land. Extremely interesting story and lesson idea.
