Dr. Jarvis teaches courses in the pre-service, in-service, and graduate education programs. His research interests include technology, integrated curricula, teacher professional learning, and educational leadership.

In 2010-11, Dan will be instructing Mathematics Education (Primary/Junior) (EDUC 4274) in the BEd program; Mathematics, Grades 7 & 8 (EDUC 1785) in the AQ program; and, Models of Teaching (EDUC 5136), Understanding Education (EDUC 5196), and Curricular Strategies (EDUC 5236) in the MEd program. For research, he will be involved with two Intermediate Division Mathematics studies, one in which he will document reform-based instructional practices in Grades 7-8, and another (with Franks) looking at hand-held and mobile technologies being implemented in Grade 9. He will also continue to lead a SSHRC International study focusing on Computer Algebra System (CAS) usage at the post-secondary level.

Dan is a member of the Nipissing University Mathematics Education, Research, and Information Centre (NUMERIC), the MEd Committee (School of Graduate Studies), the Nipissing University Senate, the Canadian Society for Education through Art (CSEA-SCÉA), and the GeoGebra Institute of Canada (GIC-IGC).
