The Junior/Intermediate division prepares the candidate to teach from Grade 4 to Grade 10 with specific preparation in one teaching subject. Candidates must have at least three full undergraduate courses (18 credits) in the teaching subject selected. Teachable subjects offered at Nipissing are English (First Language), Geography, History, Mathematics, Music-Instrumental, Health and Physical Education, Science-General, Visual Arts, French (Second Language), and Religious Education.
Note:
Candidates who choose French as a teaching subject must also successfully complete the French Language Proficiency Test (both oral and written components). Applicants who choose Visual Arts or Music-Instrumental as a teaching subject must have a minimum of three full undergraduate studio or performance courses (18 credits) respectively. Applicants with more than the minimum course requirements may be given preference.

Students intending to teach in the Separate School Boards should be aware that preference in hiring will be given to students with a pre-service Religious Education course.
The Faculty of Education offers a one-year consecutive program leading to a Bachelor of Education degree. This program meets the requirements of the Ontario College of Teachers for teacher certification.
