The Role of the Faculty

The role of the faculty members is to supervise student teachers and to provide support for associate teachers. This is accomplished by:

  1. meeting with student teachers before the September block, in November, and in February/March as well as other times that are mutually agreeable;

  2. consulting with associate teachers;

  3. assisting student teachers with the interpretation of advance information;

  4. examining plans, observation notes and reflections normally prior to the lesson;

  5. observing teaching and providing feedback;

  6. completing evaluation reports during the school year for student teachers;

  7. providing additional debriefing following the practice teaching sessions.

Faculty will make individual arrangements when they will be visiting student teachers. Although notification will normally be provided prior to these visits, faculty members have the right to visit student teachers at any time.
