Jeff Scott is currently working in the role of Assistant Professor with the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University. Jeff teaches the science component for primary/junior pre-service teachers emphasizing inquiry-based learning and experiential education. In his role as a Professor, Jeff has supervised student placements in a wide variety of settings, as well as worked collaboratively with Associate teachers, Principals and Pre-service teachers.
Prior to joining Nipissing University Jeff was a Primary and Junior teacher with the Near North District School Board, an exchange teacher in Invercargill, New Zealand and a teacher with the East Parry Sound Board of Education.
Jeff has provided leadership in many workshops and initiatives. These include Action Research, Outdoor/Experiential Education, Parents as Learning Partners, and Computers across the Curriculum. He was a co-author of "Science and Technology: Assessment Profiles and Exemplars" published by the Near North District School Board. Jeff completed his PhD at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto (OISE/UT) in the area of curriculum studies; his thesis focused on the use of Virtual Field Trips with elementary school teachers and students.
