Hello! Welcome to the website of Dr. Doug Franks, associate professor in the Schulich School of Education. On this website you will find information about the courses I teach in the BEd and MEd programs, as well as my research interests, current projects, and some recent publications and conference presentations.
TEACHING IN 2011 - 2012
In 2011-12, I am teaching the BEd Junior/Intermediate Mathematics course (sections 1, 2, and 5, Fall Term); and one course, Understanding Education, in the Master of Education program (Winter term).
A bit about me
A bit about me: I completed my Honours Mathematics degree at the University of Victoria and then went to work for a few years in the Alberta 'oil patch.' My next stop was across the country in PEI, and this is where I found Education. I completed my BEd at UPEI and taught for eight years at Holland College Summerside Centre. Graduate study beckoned and once more we moved back west to Alberta, where I attended the University of Alberta, Department of Secondary Education, to complete my MEd and PhD in curriculum and mathematics education. Since 1990 I have been teaching in the Faculty of Education (renamed the Schulich School of Education in 2010) at Nipissing.
