What is NUWork and On-campus Temp Work?

Work study programs are designed to provide career related experience to students considered to have unmet financial need when all other available resources, including OSAP, have been exhausted.

Individuals who apply and are refused by OSAP may be deemed eligible for Work Study but are expected to demonstrate a serious financial need.

Work study application forms are available at www.nipissingu.ca/financial aid, click on the Work Study link.

Two work study programs are currently offered at Nipissing University:
1.  Ontario Work Study program
2.  NUwork program

Students that are assessed as being in financial need can apply for any position available under these programs. Visit www.nipissingu.ca/placement to view jobs.  Opportunities are normally advertised at the commencement of each academic year and may provide work for up to 10 hours per week between September and April.

Students applying for an Ontario Work Study position must maintain registration in at least 18 credits over the fall/winter term..

Students may not hold simultaneously more than one regular work study position on campus in any given academic year.

Examples of departments that hire work study students include, but are not limited to:
  • library
  • computer labs
  • administrative offices
  • research office
  • faculty areas
  • student union
