Meet the Staff

Terra Nevrencan

» Manager of Student Counselling Services

Terra is a Nipissing Alumna with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology followed by a Masters of Social Work degree from Laurentian University.  She is a Registered Social Worker and a member of the Canadian Association for Child and Play Therapy.  With over 20 years experience, she has been very active in violence against women issues and prevention of child abuse. Terra will start where you are at to support you in reaching your optimal potential!​

Kayley Gravelle

» Secretary

​Kayley Gravelle has been working as a secretary at Nipissing University since January 2008. She has been with the Student Counselling Services Department since December 2014. Kayley received her certificate in the Office Administration program at Canadore College in 2006. Kayley's passion is working in areas supporting mental health and wellness. Kayley strongly believes each student should feel safe, comfortable and supported while requesting or accessing wellness services. If you require any assistance at all don’t hesitate to contact her she will do her very best to assist you.​

Andrea Havercroft

» Counsellor

Andrea Havercroft has been working as a Counsellor at Nipissing University since 2008. Prior to working at Nipissing University, she was a Crisis Worker at a hospital where she gained valuable experience supporting clients in the areas of mental health and crisis situations. Andrea also has experience working with children and families in her role as a Child Protection Worker where she developed extensive skills in assessment, family intervention, advocacy, and community liaison. , Andrea has a knowledge and skill base from several theories with a particular passion for cognitive behavioural and solution focused approaches. Andrea is passionate about prevention and enjoys developing and facilitating psycho-educational seminars and workshops on several topics that benefit students and promote their success. She completed her Social Services Worker diploma from Canadore College, as well as her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Laure​ntian University. Andrea is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.​

Terry Mady

» Counsellor

Terry Mady is a Registered Psychotherapist and has been practicing since 2002. He has had a lot of experience working with young adults in a variety of capacities including private practice. He is known to have a very non-judgmental, relational approach which makes him easy to talk with. His expertise is in helping others develop their own expertness by providing them with the resources and developing the ideas, thoughts and solutions needed to address the concerns they bring forward.

April Raftis

» Counsellor

April Raftis is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She earned a degree in Psychology and Sociology from Nipissing University, as well as an Honours Bachelor of Social Work Degree with a focus on Indigenous Relations from Laurentian University. Her past experiences have made her passionate about supporting individuals in the areas of mental health, addictions and child welfare. April is committed to the mental wellness of the students of Nipissing University and incorporates holism strategies into her interventions promoting balance, positive self-empowerment and connection to community. April believes that when students who are experiencing difficulties are given the tools to cope and reach their goals throughout their education it allows them to thrive in their daily lives and enhance their future successes!

Danielle Morrow

» Counsellor​

Danielle Morrow is a Registered Psychotherapist and is recognized as being empathetic and friendly with an easy-going, yet professional and structured demeanor. Danielle is an alumnus from Nipissing University, having graduated with her BA Honours in Psychology and continued her passion of helping others at the University of Guelph, completing an MSc in Couple and Family Therapy. Danielle has extensive experience in both brief and longer-term therapy methods, working with (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, sexuality and intimacy, chronic pain, addiction, crisis intervention, and couples/family conflict. It is of the utmost importance to Danielle that her clients feel safe, supported, and not judged in order to be open and vulnerable, both of which can be difficult and scary for some. She therefore strives to meet clients where they are at so that they can explore meaning in their lives and the goals that they wish to achieve for themselves. Danielle feels a true honor to be able to implement helpful tools to empower success within her clients, as she believes they are capable of achieving whatever is important to them – we all just need a little help sometimes!​

Neva Isaac-Sands

» Dibaadan Counsellor​​

Neva Isaac-Sands is Anishnabequa from the Ojibway and Oneida Nation, she is Turtle and Wolf clan and has worked within First Nations and Indigenous Families for over 17 years in the fields of social work, child protection and support, Indigenous healing and ending domestic violence against aboriginal women. Neva earned a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Ryerson University in the Aboriginal Field of Study and she has completed her Masters of Social work from Wilfred Laurier University in the Aboriginal Filed of Study.  Neva lives Minobiimaadziwin ‘The Good Life Ways’ of her Anishnaabe people, this means she acknowledges and understands her interconnectedness to the Universe, Mother Earth and all of Creation. Neva’s approaches with students is to listen, source the challenge, develop strategies, process with focusing and build the student with skills and tools to empower their own healing. ​
