A Step by Step Approach ...
Preparing your Package
Course packs are designed and prepared by the instructor. The original that you provide to Print Plus may consist of original books, paper copies, or electronic data saved on disk.
If your course pack consists of paper copies that must be scanned, it is important to provide the best quality copy that you have available to ensure a professional looking, easily read finished document. If you are copying directly from a book it is important to press firmly on the book to ensure total clarity of the printed image. Print Plus staff will be happy to do this for you if you provide them with the books you want scanned.
Copyright Clearance
FASS will look after obtaining copyright approvals on your behalf. Nipissing University's agreement with ACCESS makes copyright clearance a relatively quick and painless affair. There are instances where our ACCESS agreement may not cover the material you require, in which case up to six weeks may be needed to obtain approval on your behalf. Government publications and information pulled from the web are notable examples. If you wish to use information from the internet it is often easier to inform your students of the URL address and ask them to download the information themselves.
In all instances, the following citation information is required from you in order for FASS to obtain your copyright approval:
  • Name of book or journal
  • Author
  • Publisher
  • ISBN or ISSN
  • Total pages in the book
  • Page numbers being used

Printing Options
  • One or two-sided printing
  • Cardstock covers in white, green, navy or black
  • A variety of paper colours
  • Coloured inserts
  • Cerlox, spiral and tape binding options
Electronic Storage
Course pack information can be given to us on paper, by e-mail attachment or on disk, USB or CD. Information on paper is scanned and cleaned, and all course packs are saved electronically for easy future reference and changes. When you want to add material  or make changes, only the actual pages involved are needed.
Instructors' Copies
Faculty can request one copy, the cost of which is factored into the overall price of the course pack.
Rain Checks
To reduce waste and the resulting financial losses of production overruns, initial production is limited to 70%-80% of the total registration for a course. Once the Campus Shop stock has been depleted, rain-checks are issued to students which can be redeemed at Print Plus. Document-on-demand technology allows us to honour rain-checks within a day.
