Earn a BA (Honours) in Contemporary Studies from Laurier and a BEd from Nipissing as well as practice teach in the Public or Catholic schools near Brantford.
For those Considering Teaching (optional)There is a special session for those students admitted to a degree with Orientation to Teaching, to a Concurrent Education degree, and/or those students interested in teaching.
Academic Advising and Course Registration This session will introduce the academic programs, regulations and policies associated with your degree and major. As well, we will outline how to plan your undergraduate program, the academic requirements for a first year student, and provide advice and assistance as you register for courses.
Parent Workshop (parents only)This workshop will talk directly to the changing nature of parental access to information and outline ways parents can keep the lines of communication open between themselves, their student and the university.
Being a Nipissing University StudentExplore what it means to be a Nipissing University student during this interactive session where current students talk about the transition into Nipissing University and what you can do to prepare yourself for your first day of classes.
For Those Living in ResidenceAre you planning to live in residence this year? If so, attend this session to learn about our residences, what to pack, what is provided, fee and payment schedules, move-in dates, staff, residence orientation, and residence life in general.
For Those Living Off-CampusIf you are planning on living off-campus in your first year or are a local student, attend this session to learn about learning and living in North Bay. The session will discuss housing, transportation, money, academics, and getting involved from the experience of living off-campus.
Orientation TourThis will be your chance to discover the campus and meet the people here to support you with a guided tour by one of our Orientation Ambassadors.
Parent Forum Parents, we have another session just for you! This forum will be your opportunity to ask questions of the university administrative personnel about the university and/or discuss any concerns you may have. Student Forum Students, this will be an opportunity for you to meet, hear, and question upper year students about the first-year experience, how they prepared, adjusted, and then succeeded at Nipissing University. Registration Confirmation At the end of the day, you will receive official confirmation of your registration and your confirmed course schedule. If any conflicts or problems have arisen in your course selection, you can address them at this time with an Academic Advisor.
Residence Tours (optional)Following Registration Confirmation, you have the opportunity to take a tour of residence, departing from the Nipissing University Front Foyer beginning at 4:15 pm.
