New Student Orientation

Click here to Register for your NSO Day

Your first step as a high school student coming to Nipissing University is to attend your NSO day in July (see below) where their intended major is represented.  If they are undecided about their major, they are then to choose the day that best represents their interests.

All activities on these days have been designed to address the academic expectations and what they must prepare for that all first year students must be aware of.

Each participant should have the chance to:

  • Discuss their first year course choices with an academic advisor;
  • Accurately complete their course registration with help from the Office of the Registrar;
  • Acquire an understanding of the academic changes and expectations from faculty;
  • Explore their preparedness for university with the Academic Skills department;
  • Discuss their living arrangements with Residence staff;
  • Appreciate the upcoming social changes and obligations from talks with their peer mentor;
  • Understand the changes to parental access to information with counseling services;
  • Get answers to all their questions and concerns from the Nipissing University Student Union and Senior Administration.
