The School of Nursing has been growing since its inception in 2001 and it now offers five distinct nursing programs – a Collaborative BScN program with Canadore College, two RPN-Bridging programs (on-campus and blended learning), an innovative second-degree entry program in Toronto (Scholar Practitioner Program), and an international bridging program with the International University of Nursing in St. Kitts. The successful applicant will possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as a Masters in Nursing or related field. A PhD (completed or in progress) is an asset. He/She will have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in both face to face and on line environments. The incumbent will also possess recent clinical nursing experience. We are seeking candidates with a commitment to excellence in online teaching who are able to teach a broad range of courses that may include Clinical Practicum and nursing theory based courses. Excellent organizational, prioritization and interpersonal skills, as well as effective written and verbal communication skills are also required.

DIRECTOR, SOCIAL WORK PROGRAM
 
Nipissing University is currently in the process of developing a BSW degree, which will potentially be offered at our main campus in North Bay as well as our Muskoka campus in Bracebridge, ON.  Both campuses provide an intellectually exciting, collegial, and supportive faculty environment that fosters interdisciplinary research. The Director of Social Work will be integral in evolving and leading the next stage of development for the Social Work program. Working closely with internal and community based stakeholders, the Director will work collaboratively to establish a vibrant program, specifically designed to meet the unique needs of rural and northern communities. The Director will oversee the accreditation application process of the program and will play a central role in establishing the direction of the program.
 
The ideal Director will be a dedicated and visionary academic leader, with a distinguished record in teaching, scholarship and practice, and a commitment to social work education and research.  The field of research specialization is open, but the successful candidate should have a PhD and a solid background in social justice and critical perspectives. Demonstrated experience building collaborative relationships within academic and community settings will be an asset. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has excellent communication skills and enjoys the challenges associated with developing new initiatives. The position reports directly to the Dean of Applied and Professional Studies and is a key member of the Faculty Executive Committee. This position is a three-year contractually limited appointment with potential for full-time renewal subject to program approval and implementation. The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies is a well-established and rapidly growing program that combines academic education and applied skills in order to prepare students for careers in academic criminology, policing, corrections, research and other areas of the criminal justice system. Student entry into the program is competitive.  The appointment is for a specialist in Youth Justice who will be responsible for developing and teaching undergraduate courses in the theory and practice of the youth justice system. In addition, applicants should be qualified to teach in one of the other substantive areas of the program, including introduction to the Canadian criminal justice system, criminological theory, law and legal studies, and psychology and the law.

The Department of Gender Equality and Social Justice offers an innovative interdisciplinary program focused on the broad examination of the production, mobilization and effects of power across a range of fields and disciplines from gender and race relations in cultural contexts to the production of inequality by and in political, cultural and legal institutions. The program is delivered through three streams: Culture and Criticism; Power and Inequality; and Human Rights and Social Justice. We are currently seeking a two-year limited term appointment beginning August 01, 2012, with special emphasis in one or more of the following areas: critical race theory; Indigenous and settler studies; and post-colonial theory.
 
The successful candidate will be required to teach from a selection of the following courses: Race, Class and Sexuality; Sex, Body and Identity; Race, Colonization and Indigeneity, Citizenship and Social Justice; Canada, Colonization and the Politics of Resistance; Theories of Power and Equality; Masculinities; and Introduction to Gender Equality and Social Justice. We are particularly interested in individuals who can contribute to furthering an integrative transnational feminist analysis.

Department of Computer Science and Mathematics
 
The Department of Computer Science and Mathematics at Nipissing University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2012, subject to final budgetary approval.  The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in Mathematics with an outstanding promise in research and a solid research program, and a demonstrated ability for excellence in both research and undergraduate teaching.  
 
The Department is committed to active scholarship in mathematics and has an internationally recognized research group in Topology.  Overall, we seek an individual who will be an excellent researcher in the fields close to topology, geometry, or analysis, and will be able to interact with the research group.  It is also expected that the successful candidate will have a very strong background and interest in various areas of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and potentially in Computer Science. 
 
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses, and to contribute to the department in other ways, which may include the supervision of senior undergraduate research projects or MSc students.  Strong computing skills, or a keen interest in the use of computer technology in theoretical or applied mathematics, will be considered an asset.
