Research Technician: Watershed Hydrology
 
Nipissing University invites applications for a Research Technician in Watershed Hydrology.  The incumbent will provide technical and logistical support to the Canadian Research Chair in Watershed Analysis and Modeling.  Duties will include installation and maintenance of field equipment, data logger programming, field sampling and data collection in remotes areas of northeastern Ontario, management of spatial and temporal datasets, maintenance of water sampling preparation laboratory, organization and storage of field samples.  The incumbent will coordinate with the CRC and other members of Nipissing University’s Watershed Analysis Center (visiting faculty and researchers, graduate and undergraduate students) and will be involved in training of undergraduate and graduate research assistants. 
 
Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in geography, biology, earth sciences, engineering or a related discipline.  Knowledge and experience working in field environments, strong organizational and communication skills are essential.  Experience with geographic information systems is desirable. 
 
The position will be reviewed on an annual basis and administered as per the funding requirements.  A competitive stipend will be offered and commensurate with qualifications and experience. RESIDENCE PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR
Contract
 
Reporting to the Supervisor, Residence Community Programs and Services, the Residence Programming Coordinator leads the Residence programming for Nipissing University's residence operation.  These duties include working with the Residence Life Team (Residence Dons and Residents’ Councils) on the planning and implementation of educational programs and social activities, which support and contribute to a student's personal and academic success.  Duties include being the main contact for, and training of, the Residents’ Council, the planning and implementation of Residence Orientation in conjunction with the Residents’ Council and Residence Life Team, recruitment, training and coordination of the Residence Tour Program, researching and maintaining resource information for Residence Life Staff, and assisting with the organization of Residence Staff Training.
 
The successful applicant will possess an appropriate University degree, preferably in education, psychology, social work, or a related field, combined with a minimum of two years living within a residence life environment. Leadership experience within a residence environment would be considered an asset. Past experience programming and organizing events, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as critical and creative thinking skills are required. A valid class G drivers’ license is also required. The incumbent must also be bondable and receive a negative Criminal Record Check (i.e. have not been convicted of a criminal offence for which a pardon has not yet been granted).
