Safety Training and MOL Health and Safety Awareness Program

​Ontario Ministry of Labour Health and Safety Awareness Program

The Ontario Ministry of Labour has developed two new programs to promote safety awareness in the workplace.  The programs consist of a workbook and employer guide, one for Workers and one for Supervisors.  Both are available at the following links:

Other Health and Safety Initiatives

In addition to the MOL Health and Safety Awareness Program, Nipissing University has initiated safety awareness training for new employees.   The training consists of:

  1. New Faculty and Staff Safety Orientation Session offered by the Manager EHS
  2. Laboratory Safety Training consisting of:
    • Online WHMIS training
    • Laboratory Safety Training Seminars

Training Records

Anyone who hires and supervises a worker must keep a record of safety orientation and training records.  To assist supervisors with record keeping, the Joint Health and Safety Committee has developed a Safety Orientation Check-List and Training Record From.  The form is available for download here (right-click to save to your hard-drive):
