JOB DESCRIPTION:          

The Sexual Violence Prevention & Education Outreach Student Assistant will assist the Sexual Violence Prevention & Education Coordinator to aide in the planning, implementation and assessment of sexual violence awareness programs for the entire university community. The incumbent will assist in the creation and maintenance of sexual violence awareness campaigns and creation of social media content. The incumbent will be trained as a peer facilitator for workshops on consent, understanding gender/ gender identity and bystander intervention. The incumbent will be closely involved with training student leaders in residence and through the week of Orientation. 

DUTIES INCLUDE:

        Assist with planning and implementation of Campus Wide events

        Complete research into best practices

        Assist with the development of educational print and video materials

        Become a student facilitator for up to three different violence prevention workshops

        Assist with email

        Clerical duties to plan, execute and follow up workshops

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

        Must be able to attend the Peer Educator Selection Carousel on Saturday, February 3, 2018

        Interest in sexual violence education, awareness and support

        Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, punctuality

        Willingness to work in a discreet and confidential manner

        Ability to work with minimal supervision

        Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural and social backgrounds

        NU Student with good academic standing (cumulative average of 65% or higher)

        Experience working with survivors of sexual violence and/or on advocacy to end gender based violence an asset

        An understanding of trauma informed practice an asset

        Must be able to attend a follow up second interview during the week of Feb. 12 – 16, 2018.
