HOURS OF WORK:                            UP TO 10 HOURS PER WEEK

Successful candidate may be required to apply and demonstrate approval for NU Work funding to maintain this position.



The Residence Programming Student Assistant aides the residential living experience of students aiding in the planning, implementation and assistance of residence life events, promotions and programming. The Residence Life Student Assistant works with a number of professional staff, on a variety of portfolios, with emphasis on program planning, promotion and implementation, across all complexes.


The Residence Programming Assistant will aide the Residence Life team by assisting with:

  • Residence programming and community development initiatives (creation and marketing/promotion of academic, educational, health and safety, orientation and community programs)
  • Research of new, innovative and best practice programming materials/resources for the Residence Life department
  • Recruitment of and training for residence tour guide programs (including Fall and March Open House and the Registrar’s Residence Tours)
  • Supporting residence programming through attendance and assisting at large scale events
  • General Residence Programming Office duties (e.g. answer in person, email, and telephone inquiries, word processing, filing)
  • Creation of assessment and reporting of residence programming
  • Other tasks as assigned

Prior to assuming the duties of the position, candidates must complete the following:

  • Online Student Employee Training modules
  • Completion and submission of all required paperwork


  • Must be able to attend the Peer Educator Selection Carousel on Saturday, February 3, 2018
  • Familiarity with standard computer software and, organizational proficiency
  • Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of Nipissing University programs, initiatives, and services that promote student academic and personal success.
