RATE OF PAY:                             $12.06 - $12.36/hour as determined by HR policy

HOURS OF WORK:                      UP TO 10 HOURS PER WEEK

Successful candidates will be required to apply and demonstrate approval for NU Work funding to maintain this position.



The Health and Wellness Student Assistant through Student Intervention Services aides the various programs, initiatives, and services which seek to support students in achieving success and wellness at Nipissing University. The incumbent will assist in the creation and maintenance of mental and emotional wellness campaigns (e.g., Stress Management Presentations, Outreach events). The incumbent will be trained as a peer facilitator for workshops. Experience with program development and program delivery is an asset.  Applicants with a professional interest in mental health or social work professions will be given priority.


The Assistant will support the team by assisting with:

  • Development, coordination, and facilitation of outreach programing for diverse student groups
  • Provide youth engagement perspective on program development and design
  • Advertising and promotion of events / department services
  • Researching and data gathering relating to best practices and industry standards
  • clerical tasks for the department
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Must be able to attend the Peer Educator Selection Carousel on Saturday, February 3, 2018
  • Must apply and be approved for the NUWORK Program
  • Interest in student wellness & mental health
  • Excellent level of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • NU Student with good academic standing (cumulative average of 65% or higher)
  • Ability to work with students across diverse educational, cultural, and social backgrounds
  • An understanding of trauma informed practice would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Nipissing University programs, initiatives, and services that promote student academic and personal success
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms
  • Must be able to attend a follow up second interview during the week of February 12-16, 2018
