CARETAKER

 (Full-Time Support Staff)
 
The Caretaker is responsible for cleaning and maintaining, in a clean and orderly condition, the interior and the exterior of all University managed buildings and the surrounding grounds/areas
The Caretaker is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the interior and the exterior of our buildings and the surrounding grounds/area, as well as maintaining, adjusting and completing minor repairs to electrical, mechanical, building, plumbing and heating systems, equipment and components within the Student Residences. The Caretaker will also assist with on campus event setup, snow removal and lawn care.
The Caretaker will be required to work varying days and hours which will include evening and weekend hours. The Caretaker will be notified in advance of any changes to the regularly scheduled shifts in accordance with Article 22. The Caretaker may also be called in after their regularly scheduled shift for emergencies or other duties and/or needs. The hours of work may rotate and be flexible depending on the needs of the department.
The Caretaker may be required to carry a supplied phone while working to respond to any issues and may be required to travel between buildings to respond to those issues.
The successful candidate will possess a grade 12 Diploma, combined with one year of relevant work experience. Electrical and mechanical experience, experience with building systems and components, WHMIS Training, and CPR and First Aid Training would be considered an asset. The successful candidate must provide a negative Criminal Record Check prior to employment start date (i.e. not been convicted of a criminal offence for which a pardon has not been granted).
