The purpose of this closure policy is to ensure that procedures are well understood and minimally disruptive to staff and students alike.

Rule of Thumb: If the City Buses are running, we are open and classes are to be taught.

It is the policy of the University to remain open for all classes and services. Should extremely severe conditions require the University to close or cancel classes, the Office of the Vice-President, Finance and Administration, will make the decision and will have it announced on local radio stations. The Vice-President, Finance and Administration, under normal circumstances, will consult with the Faculty Deans , and where appropriate other members of the Executive Administration. Other consultation might be considered with the Administrative Vice-President of Canadore and the Transit Manager of the City of North Bay.

Only after a decision to close has been made, will employees be dismissed from work and classes cancelled.
