Guided Hikes

Hikes start at 10:30am and 12:30pm at the pond

This is your opportunity to check out the 20 km of trails that are utilized on a daily basis by students for class, athletes for training and nature lovers for skiing and snowshoeing. The guided hike will provide an opportunity to learn about the history, flora and fauna and how the institution has been dependent on the trails as part of the curriculum. Also a great opportunity to burn some calories and get some fresh air.

Warrior Screening

“The remarkable Nipissing Warriors hockey team played from 1965 – 1975. Few could have imagined their success or popularity when community members began pushing for an all-Anishinaabe team to play in the all-white, predominantly Francophone, Industrial League in Sturgeon Falls in the 1960s.” If you missed it in the Spring or want to catch a second viewing, The Warriors documentary will be shown throughout the day in F213. There will be a Q&A period at 11:30 am lead by Dr. Katrina Srigley, Glenna Beaucage and community elders who work effortlessly to capture the story of the Warriors.. Come have your questions about the making of this powerful documentary answered.

Kidz Zone

10:00am - 2:00pm in the main cafeteria

Come experience the fun and excitement of Nipissing’s University Kidz Zone. Your child will get the opportunity to participate in arts and craft and learn some great educational games from our Schulich School of Education students. There will also be some fun treats supplied by the Nipissing University Student Union. The photo booth will be available to capture the moments.

Monastery Fine Arts

12:00pm - 2:00pm

The Fine Arts department will open the monastery doors with an exhibit of paintings and drawing by their students and faculty. There will be an opportunity to see site-specific art installations, paintings from past students and a screen printing demo. If you have never visited the Monastery this will be a great time to see what our Faculty of Fine Arts has been up to.

Harris Learning Library (HLL)

Guided Library Tours - provided by library staff members each half hour (starting at 10:30am)

Archives - open from 10:00am - 2:00pm (Manager of Archives and Access Services will be present to answer any questions)

Classroom spaces - open from 10:00am - 2:00pm (various displays)

Various standalone displays throughout the library including:

  • Resources from the 1990's display
  • Local history display
  • What can you borrow with your library card? (Students, staff, faculty and community members can sign up for a card at HLL)
  • Games tables
  • Architectural Drawings of the library
  • Archival photo display on the atrium tv of the old library space and the build of HLL

Residence

10:00am - 2:00pm

Nipissing has been ranked number 1 in the country on multi occasions for its Residence Community. The Student Leaders in Residence would like to welcome you to see the facilities and experience what student life is really like at Nipissing. There will be building tours available or you can hang out in the lobby and learn more about programming in residence from our professional staff.

Robert Surtees Athletic Centre

11:00am - 2:00pm

The Lakers Varsity Family welcomes you to join them as they showcase their training space. You may even get to see our high performance athletes in friendly competition.

Bachelor of Physical and Health Education Building

11:00am - 2:00pm

Maybe you are curious about how to analyze your golf swing or see how our environmental chamber works. Join our Physical and Health Education faculty and staff, as they provide tours and demonstrations of their state of the art research space and highlight the cutting edge research that is ongoing right in your back yard.

Enji giigdoyang, the Office of Indigenous Initiatives

12:00pm - 2:00pm in F215

Interested in learning more about the Office of Indigenous Initiatives? Please drop by from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., to discuss the significance of tobacco in this experiential learning opportunity, where you will learn how to make tobacco ties. You will also have the opportunity to learn how the Office of Indigenous Initiatives supports students on campus and the different events that the department offers to our community.

Campus Tours

Curious about what Nipissing has been up to over the past 25 year, join us in the main entrance lobby from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., to get a tour of our main building labs and student spaces. There will also be an opportunity to peruse an exhibit of faculty and staff works and memorabilia from the pass 25 year.​​​​
