Nipissing CIC hosts discussion on Development in Africa TODAY

The Nipissing Branch of the Canadian International Council welcomes Major Ed Smith (retired) to campus for a discussion titled: Development in Africa: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly on Wednesday, January 18, at 7 p.m. in the Weaver Auditorium (B200).

Smith will discuss his experiences with development projects in South Sudan and Cameroon and the benefits and problems of Canadian developmental assistance in Africa.

Smith is a retired major with the Canadian Armed Forces whose military service included postings with United Nations missions in South Sudan and elsewhere.  While serving with the military, he founded two non-governmental organizations, including the North Bay-based International Children’s Awareness, which focussed on development projects in Cameroon and South Sudan.  He has two decades of experience with water projects and community development projects in Africa.

This event is free and open to the public, and everyone is welcome!
