North Bay Campus

Customize your learning experience in our Applied and Professional Studies, Arts and Science, and Education degree programs.

Muskoka Campus

Located within driving distance of Orillia and Barrie, programs include Child and Family Studies, Culture and the Arts, Liberal Arts and teaching options.

Brantford Campus

Earn a BA (Honours) in Contemporary Studies from Laurier and a BEd from Nipissing as well as practice teach in the Public or Catholic schools near Brantford.

Master of Environmental Studies/Sciences

While there are several core courses to the Master of Environmental Science or Studies program, students will choose to stream into either Environmental Science or Environmental Studies, depending on their background and interests.

Applicants must hold a four-year undergraduate degree in any discipline from an accredited University and at least a 75% average on the last ten full (20 semester) courses completed at the time of application, or equivalent qualifications to be considered for admission.  Applicants are also required to submit a Statement of Academic Intent which explains how the MES/MESc program relates to previous academic studies. 
 
All applicants are required to provide at least three (3) letters of academic recommendation from professors or other appropriate professionals who can speak to their level of preparation and readiness for graduate studies. Reference cannot be from anyone who is personally related to the applicant.
 
All applicants are required to provide a resumé. Applicants are also be required to write a statement about their research interests and desired area of research.
 
Applicants may also be asked to submit supplemental information, such as English language proficiency scores as appropriate.

  • Application form
  • Three (3) academic references mailed with the application form in sealed envelopes with the referee signature over the seal
  • Undergraduate transcripts from all institutions attended, included those attended on a letter of permission or exchange program. Transcripts must be sent directly from the institution to Nipissing University
  • A typed statement of interest indicating your research area(s) of interest
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency for foreign applicants whose undergraduate degree was not taken in the English language
 English Language Test Requirements:
  • TOEFL - minimum score of 550 in paper based, 213 on computer based, 80 on iBT
  • IELTS - minimum score of 6
  • MELAB - minimum score of 85
  • PEARSON - minimum score of 67, with minimum of 60 on listening, speaking, reading and writing
