Native Classroom Assistant Diploma Program (NCADP)

When you complete the Native Classroom Assistant Diploma Program (NCADP) you will be qualified to work, under the professional direction of the classroom teacher and school Principal, as a classroom assistant with Aboriginal primary school children. 
 
The NCADP will qualify you for admission to the Aboriginal Teacher Certification Program, allowing you to continue your studies to become a Teacher, making it a unique educational experience.
 
Qualifications:
 
To be eligible for this program, you must meet all the following qualifications:
  1. Completion of Ontario Grade 12; if you do not have your Grade 12, you may apply to write an equivalency test. To get information about writing the test, contact the Office of the Registrar.
  2. You must be Aboriginal.
  3. You must have a letter of recommendation from an Aboriginal organization. It is recommended that you have experience working with children.
  4. A recent criminal record check.
Once you meet all of the qualifications, you may be enrolled in the Program, which consists of two different components: Summer Courses and Practical Classroom Experience. The NCADP consists of three parts - one part per summer. Each part lasts four weeks and consists of courses that will guide you to becoming a qualified Classroom Assistant.
 
 
The application deadline for this Program is May 1. Applications received after this date will be considered only if there are places available.
