Frequently Asked Questions

Q - What is the application fee?
A - The application fee is $50 (non-refundable) and will be applied against tuition.
 

Q - What is the deadline to apply?
A - The application deadline for all Aboriginal Summer programs is June 2nd. Applications received after this date will only be considered if there are spaces available. You are encouraged to apply early as space in some programs is limited. We reserve the right to cancel courses with insufficient enrolment after this date.

 
Q - What types of payments does Student Financial Services accept?
A - Student Financial Serv​ices will accept payments by cash, certified cheque, debit card, bank draft or money order payable to Nipissing University. Payments can also be made through online banking at any of the five main banks. Credit card payments are not accepted.  


Q - What is the start date for the Summer Session Program Component?
A - All Aboriginal Summer Programs begin on Monday, July 3, 2017.

 
Q - What is the last day for the Summer Session Program Component?
A - The Aboriginal Teacher Certification Program and Teacher of Anishnaabemwin as a Second Language ends on Friday, August 11, 2017.


Q - Is there wireless internet in Residence?
A - Yes, there is access to wireless internet in all suites and common areas in Residence at no additional charge.

 
Q - Is family accommodation in Residence available?
A - Yes. Download the Family Acc​om​modation Application​ (available soon) and submit it by the deadline. Family Residence can accommodate up to 4 people maximum.

 
Q - Is parking available?
A - Yes. Monthly​ parking is available. Please refer to the Parking webpage or contact Security Services for further information at (705) 474-3450, ext. 5555.

 
Q - Will I receive an official transcript automatically after I complete my program?
A - No. Official transcripts must be ordered through the Office of the Registrar through the Transcript Request form.

 
Q - I am a graduate of the Aboriginal Teachers Certification Program. Will a transcript be automatically sent to the Ontario College of Teachers?
A - No. Official transcripts must be ordered through the Office of the Registrar through the Transcript Request form

 
Q - How is an Aboriginal Teachers Certificate student granted a Certificate of Qualification through the Ontario College of Teachers?
A - The Program meets the academic requirements of Nipissing University’s Teacher Education Program. When you have successfully completed the first session of classes, students will be eligible to apply for a Transitional Certificate through the Ontario College of Teachers.
 
After the successful completion of all components of ATCP, graduates are eligible for a “Certificate of Qualification” by the Ontario College of Teachers. Please visit their website at www.oct.ca for further information.
 
Note: Only those students holding a "Certificate of Qualification" are eligible to take Additional Qualification courses.
 

Q - Are there daily activities for families of our students?
A - Yes. To support students in their goal in achieving academic success, the Summer Aboriginal Education Programs have developed a number of daily/weekly activities for children of our enrolled students. The programs are: Youth Experience Program and Science, Engineering and Mathematics Camps.
