As students cannot always be certain of their career path and/or final designation it is advised that students plan their courses to allow for any designation unless interests allow them to focus and specialize in their forth year.
Other designations such as the CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), or the CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) are also possible outcomes for students.
Other designation options:
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
A US Based designation denotes proven expertise in fraud prevention, detection, deterrence and investigation. While US Based, the CFE designation is a requirement of employment in many government auditing positions. Also due to changes in corporate governance issues, the CFE designation demand has increased.
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
While not designated by provincial law, the CIA Designation is a globally recognized credential for competency and professionalism in the Internal Auditing field. Governments and large corporations often maintain CIA’s on staff, also there are certification paths for those who are designated accountants.
